Alyson Prokop, Operations Manager

My name is Alyson and I am the Operations Manager for Hamilton Victory Gardens. I am a botanist and plant pathologist by training, with over 15 years in the agriculture and education industries. My strengths are creating organizational framework, leadership development, graphic design, program and outreach coordination, policy writing and risk assessment. And of course, all this is done with a passion for gardening. I recently worked at Royal Botanical Gardens where I was coordinating their children's gardening programs / community plots and working as a outdoor education instructor. I invite you to introduce yourself the next time we are in the garden, and don't be shy - I love to chat and am often seen with a cup of tea in my hand. Happy Gardening!

“Hi, I’m Elizabeth! I am a 5th year student at McMaster University studying Environmental Science. I chose to work for HVG because I wanted to gain experience in the environmental field and contribute to an organization that helps people access fresh produce. I’m excited to work in this position because of its connection with sustainability and its contribution to the reduction of climate change causing greenhouse gases.”

“Hey everyone! My name is  Paige and I am a third year social work student at Redeemer University and am very excited to be spending the first half of my summer in Hamilton. I chose to work with HVG because of my passion for the people of Hamilton and walking alongside them to create healthy lifestyles and impactful memories. I am very excited to get my hands dirty and witness the growth in people and of seeds that I will have the opportunity to plant within the next couple of months! I love to meet new people and hear new stories, so come pop by and say hello!"

Olivia Schultz, Volunteer Coordinator

Hi! I'm Olivia and I am in my final semester of my undergrad in International Development and Business at Redeemer University College. I became interested in sustainable agriculture and community gardening in 2011 when my father took me to a three week long sustainable development conference in South Africa, which I loved! I found out about HVG last year, and was so excited to be a part of the team as the site coordinator at the Redeemer Garden site! I love working with passionate, servant-hearted people in Hamilton! I am looking forward to graduation to be able to commit more of my heart and time to my position at Hamilton Victory Gardens. I can't wait to meet you!
