Events Committee

This group’s role is to plan and host different events throughout the year, including the annual Harvest Celebration Dinner, volunteer potlucks and BBQs, and fundraising events.

Promotions Committee

This group will promote the good work that Hamilton Victory Gardens is doing in the community through marketing, public relations, media relations and social media.  We are also in need of someone to help us update/maintain our website!

Fundraising Committee

This group is essential for the sustainability and growth of the Hamilton Victory Gardens, and will work on generating ideas, materials, and strategies for connecting with private and public donors.

Volunteer Committee

This group’s role is to recruit volunteers for the garden sites, and to plan methods to help retain and encourage the volunteers.

Cube Van Driver: (URGENT!!)

Thanks to a grant from Ontario Trillium Fund, Hamilton Victory Gardens was able to purchase a refrigerated cube van that will be used to pick up and deliver produce to the food banks/programs, and to transport materials and supplies. VOLUNTEER DRIVERS are now required for the van. The insurance provider stipulates that volunteers must be 25 years of age or older, have had at least 3 years verifiable commercial experience driving heavy vehicles (over 4,500 kg), and have no significant tickets and/or accidents.

FOUR or more drivers are required!! If you would be interested in driving the HVG cube van, please contact Bill Wilcox at or call 289-237-7714.

 Garden Volunteer Opportunities

Site Coordinators

These are dedicated volunteers who, along with one or two other coordinators, share the responsibility for managing a garden site for the length of the season. Site coordinators manage volunteers in the garden and organize volunteer “work bees” two or three times a week. A site coordinator preferably has some experience in vegetable gardening, loves to garden, is passionate about bettering his/her community, and has significant time to dedicate to the gardens Spring – Fall.

Garden Volunteers

Garden volunteers need no prior gardening experience and are welcome to join us at any one of our 14 sites during the season (April– November). Garden volunteers are welcome to join on a causal or regular basis – no commitment is necessary. The policy for garden volunteers is “Come where and when you can!!” Once registered, each volunteer will receive a weekly update of the upcoming work bees to help you choose.

All of the fresh produce we donate is grown by our incredible group of volunteers at the 15 Victory Garden sites throughout the Greater Hamilton Area. We are always looking for new volunteers, and there are many opportunities to participate both in the gardens and outside.
